68: User Generated Content

You gaze upwards into the wide, painted, mostly white 7ft tall canvas at the art gallery. A thought leaps across your mind. You recognize it, like you would recognize your high-chool best friend... slowly at first, then all at once.
The thought says to you "I could have done this"... But you did not. And probably never will. The thought is scampers from your brain... and lays in wait for the next time you see some over priced piece of wall garbage used to store the riches wealth.
That's sort of like user generated content in video games. There sure is a lot of games out there with really cool user generate stuff... Even whole games that started out as mods to other games. You COULD do that, and maybe you WILL!?

66: Day Night Cycles

Late is the hour in which I manage to upload the podcast. It's been a busy day. I could have done it last night, but I did not... I waited, procrastinated, and now the real life day night cycle has punished me. I sit here, wreathed in guilt and emotions I cannot express because of the way the day night cycle of our reality has shown my own folly. My own ineptitude. Just as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, another episode will be a little bit late.

The day dawns. Birds cry out, and flock together. The sun shines brightly through the cracks in the blinds... you're none the wiser because you're hard wired, jacked in, fully immersed in your VR world. Your VR EXPERIENCE!! Better than reality, more real, more tangible, more exciting than life could have ever hoped to be. The endless spectrum of possibilities stretches before, broad and large and all encompassing. Then you awake. Sleep dries your lids closed. No birds. No sunshine. Only the cold. And a new announcement from Apple about their $3,500USD VR thing. Something is not quite right... something is in fact, quite wrong.

This episode is all about side quests, the history, the good, the bad. What makes for quality side questing in today's modern era with all these games that go boop and beep and keep your son awake at night, screaming into the monitor with his strange buddies.

62: Game Club Spotlight: Slime Rancher 2

We're sorry not sorry for our thoughts and feelings on this much beloved "video game".
Slime Rancher 2 was not what either of us expected, and even though we had Zelda TotK come out during the month of this game club game, we managed to both fully form our thoughts before any such distraction may have occurred. 
So perhaps if this game is near and dear to your heart, give this ep a miss... If you're wondering if you might like to play a fun little game about having a ranch full of slimes, then definitely listen to this one. May it act as an omen, a dark warning from upon high... That these slimes are not be bothered or glanced at. They only bring sadness, and not the good kind.

Reward systems in games is a really deep topic, and thankfully we have Daz to walk us through this absolute marsh like swampland of a topic. Without their help, we'd likely be stuck... High and dry. Not a single reward to sate us.
